30/31 concept project
Paszport: language school with groups of up to 8 · Poznań
Students take a 3-minute test, see their level and two groups with a free seat, then book the seat with a deposit.
Concept project - how I would build a website for a business in this field: language school with groups of up to 8. The business and its details are fictional.

01The challenge
Visitors do not know their level or whether a group still has a seat.
- “What is my level?” with no answer
- A timetable in a PDF, or none at all
- Sign-up by phone only
Full description of the challenge
A language school sells a seat in a specific group, yet most school websites show a list of languages and an “ask about a course” form. Visitors do not know their level, whether there is a group at a time that suits them or whether it still has a seat, so they call or put the decision off. This is how I would build a site for a school in Poznań: a test, a timetable with free seats and a sign-up with a deposit, one after another.
02What I did 6 decisions
-
A level test that ends with a specific group
A 3-minute test with an A1-C1 result and two groups with a free seat.
More details
15 short English questions from the easiest, with an “I don’t know” button. The A1-C1 result is stamped onto a passport page, and two groups with a free seat appear right next to it, with a sign-up button.
-
A group timetable like a departures board
A timetable like a departures board, with filters and free seats.
More details
Each group is a row of flaps: language, level, days, time, start date, room and free seats. Filters narrow the board by language, level, day and mode (in school or online), and on phones the rows turn into compact strips.
-
A passport as the school’s symbol
The passport opens as you scroll and shows the level stamps.
More details
The first screen shows a passport with a burgundy cover and gold foil. As you scroll, the cover turns on its spine and reveals a page stamped with levels. The same motif returns in the header, styled as the cover’s edge, in the test result stamp and in the footer.
-
Sign-up with a deposit, with free seats you can trust
Sign-up with a 200 zł deposit, and seats taken with no risk of double booking.
-
Languages, teachers, companies and private lessons
Flip cards for six languages, teachers, companies and private lessons.
-
Next.js on Cloudflare
Next.js (React) on Cloudflare Workers with a D1 database.
Details of decisions 04-06
04 Sign-up with a deposit, with free seats you can trust
A sign-up takes a seat in the database only if it is still free at that moment, so two people cannot get the same one. After the details comes a test payment of the 200 zł deposit (BLIK or card), and a confirmation with a sign-up number. Cloudflare Turnstile protects the form.
05 Languages, teachers, companies and private lessons
Six languages on flip cards with levels and groups, six teachers with short bios, separate pages with private lesson prices and a company enquiry form. The questions before sign-up look like a chat.
06 Next.js on Cloudflare
The site is built with Next.js (React) and runs on Cloudflare Workers with a D1 database. Pages are static, and only free seats and sign-up are dynamic.
03Result
A student goes from the test to a booked seat in a few minutes.
Full description of the result
In a few minutes a student goes from “I don’t know my level” to a booked seat in a group. Speed 92/100 on mobile and 100/100 on desktop, and nothing jumps while the page loads.

- The questions before sign-up are prepared so that Google and AI assistants can quote the answers.
- The demo is hidden from search engines because the business is fictional.
