22/23 concept project

Kadr: wedding photo and film · Warsaw

Couples see at once whether their date is free and hold it for 7 days, without emailing and waiting for a reply.

Concept project - how I would build a website for a business in this field: wedding photo and film. The business and its details are fictional.

01The challenge

The first thing every couple asks a photographer is “is our date free?”. Usually they have to send an email and wait a day or two, and by then they are already writing to other photographers. This is how I would build a site for a Warsaw wedding photographer and filmmaker who works all over Poland: the date is checked in the calendar straight away, a free one can be held, and the photos show whole weddings, from getting ready to the last dance. In Polish and English.

02What I did

  1. A photo taken before your eyes

The first screen is a full photo of a couple by the Vistula. A viewfinder appears over it, the focus point locks onto the couple, the shutter closes for a split second, and the film strip at the bottom moves on one frame, from 35 to 36. The new frame 36 is a thumbnail of that shot. It happens once, the photo and buttons are there from the first moment, and with reduced motion the page shows the final state at once.

  2. A clapperboard that checks your date

Right below the photo is a board like a clapperboard on set: scene, take, date, venue. Couples tap a day in the calendar and read the answer in words straight away: free, one team left, booked or on hold. Each day also shows its state as a pattern in the cell, so colour is never the only clue. When a day is booked, the page suggests the nearest Saturdays with a team free.

  3. Holding a date for 7 days

Couples hold a free date for 7 days, at no cost, with a short form: names and an email or phone number. The calendar shows the new state of the day at once, and an unconfirmed date goes back to free by itself after a week. Two couples cannot book the last free team at the same time. In its dashboard the studio sees the bookings, confirms them with a contract and changes the state of a day, and the couples’ details there are partly hidden.

  4. Wedding stories as a roll of film

Couples choose a photographer by whole wedding stories. Three sample couples each get a strip of frames on the home page and their own page with the whole day, from getting ready to the last dance, laid out like a contact sheet.

  5. Prices circled in pencil, the day on a timeline

The packages sit on one light contact sheet, and the “from” prices are circled in red pencil, the way a photographer marks the chosen frames. Next comes the wedding day on a timeline like in video editing software: couples move the playhead and see what the team does at each hour and what it needs from them then. Reviews run as subtitles under a cinema-wide frame.

  6. Two languages and honest labels

The English version is written by hand, including the calendar and booking, and its prices come with a rough amount in euros. The studio, the couples and the reviews are fictional and labelled as such, the demo booking sends nothing, and the photos are AI-generated and labelled on the site.

03Result

A two-language photographer’s website where couples check their date, hold it for a week and look through whole weddings before they even get in touch. Speed 99/100 on mobile and 100 on desktop, accessibility 100, and nothing jumps while the page loads.

How customers find this website

  • The title says what and where: a wedding photographer and filmmaker in Warsaw and across Poland.
  • Google knows it is a service business working all over Poland, and knows its packages and “from” prices.
  • The most common questions are set up so Google and AI assistants can quote the answers.
  • The Polish and English versions are linked, so Google shows the right language.
  • The demo is hidden from search engines, because the business is fictional.
